Our Faves at IDS Toronto ‘25
Once again I’ve rounded up my favourites from our visit to the Interior Design Show in Toronto. It was a lovely day enjoyed with a wonderful group of local Niagara designers and I’m so happy to be able to share a bit of our day with you.
This year I was focused on ideas for my current project roster and finding new “go-to” options when sourcing and selecting special pieces for clients. As always I found a some suppliers that fit exactly what I was looking for and some that were aspirational or opened my eyes to new ideas.
1- ESBE Heirloom Quilts
Why we love them: I can’t tell you how many Pinterest images featuring quilts I’ve saved in the past several months. There is something so comforting, nostalgic and authentic about a handmade quilt. My mom has a few she inherited from family that will one day be passed along to me and my daughter, but in the meantime I may just have to start my own collection. We have one now that is our “everything” blanket - forts, picnics at the beach, playtime in the grass. We don’t treat it too carefully and I think it’s better for it. I love the thought of creating a special storied quilt or art piece for a space that will pass along through generations.
Favourite product: The bespoke quilt program as well as the fine art pieces.
2- James Crossing
Why we love them: Sourcing unique, on-aesthetic, quality wallpaper and fabrics is often a tough process. With thousands of options out there it can be easy to get lost in the sea of possibilities. On the other hand you can come across the same options time and time again and have a hard time finding something new and intriguing. It’s nice to have a curated source like this to narrow down the search where there are fun new surprises from independent global artists and customizable options.
Favourite product: The simplicity and twist on a classic stripe in the ‘Birdlip’ wallpaper by Parker & Jules caught my attention at the show and is in the running for use on one of our current projects. It comes in a variety of colours which is always a bonus when specifying so you can get the perfect colour coordination with other materials in the space.
3- hd+co
Why we love them: They may be number 3 in the list but they were my favourite discovery of the day. Made with sustainable fibers in the most gorgeous earthy colours and patterns, I could see one of these pieces finding a home in every project. With a variety of sizes, materials and customization options they may be a new go-to.
Favourite product: The Calla Handwoven Rug partners organic geometry with natural fibres to create a casual, sophisticated and artistic piece.
4- MIMA Ceramics
Why we love them: There is something equally ancient and modern about these pieces. It’s as if they could be found in ancient African or Mediterranean culture but also feel completely new and fresh. The abstract yet natural patterns and colours are eye-catching statements that add charisma to any space. I love that they are hand thrown stoneware with glazed interiors making them water tight.
Favourite product: Honestly I would take one of each, but if I had to choose it would be the Large Brown and Blue Engraved Vase.
5- Health Hut
Why we love them: As the famous quote from William Morris goes - 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.' It’s the little things that can make all the difference like a beautifully packaged soap or lotion that can stay out on the counter and add to the decor, so it’s nice to find options that fit the vibe. I’m also always on the hunt for beautiful client gifts to hand out when projects come to a close.
Favourite product: The bundles make for great gifts!
6- Le Tenon & La Mortaise
Why we love them: Simple, well-crafted pieces that aren’t cookie-cutter but are certainly very functional. Each piece is unique offering something creative and interesting while blending in seamlessly at the same time.
Favourite product: The Clara Shelving Unit and Ketch Desk combo is really great for small or open concept spaces.
7- Archilog
Why we love them: These custom handcrafted log holders made from solid steel can add so much coziness and functionality to a fireplace or woodstove area. You can also work with them to create custom designs!
Favourite product: I love the simplicity of the Oak holder but would choose any of the above.
8- Fern Kids
Why we love them: Kids deserve a well-designed environment too and I love how many fun and playful options are available for a playroom, bedroom or preschool/daycare.
Favourite product: My son is about to have his very own room after sharing with his sibling up until now and I’d love to incorporate either the basketball hoop or hockey net for him!
